As part of the The Co-op School’s New Roots Capital Campaign, we are excited to launch a new crowdsourcing initiative called Roots to Trees to Honeybees, designed to raise funds that will outfit our new building (which opened in September 2019) with important supplies and materials from desks and cubbies to a science lab, musical instruments, a library, and so much more. Your gift will further the goal of providing joyful, self-directed learning for students from preschool through middle school in the vibrant neighborhood of Bedford Stuyvesant.
The Co-op School continues to grow one grade level per year – in 2020-21, we will officially become a full preschool, elementary, and middle school, serving students age 2 through grade 8. To meet our growth needs, the school has moved to a new facility that serves all of our students in one state-of-the-art building, fostering community, providing space for physical activity, and offering more advanced learning for middle schoolers in science, art, music, technology, math, and the language arts.
Your contribution will ensure that our new and permanent home is one of the best places to receive a comprehensive, diverse, inclusive, and impactful education in Brooklyn. When you give, your money will go directly to the purchase of the many essentials needed to get every kid, from our smallest honeybees to the new middle school students, united together under one roof.
There simply can’t be a great school without the fundamentals, the roots. If we work together to meet our year-end goal of $60,000, we can purchase these essential materials.
With an additional,
- Internet Access (wifi, cabling)
- Security (video cameras)
- Basketball hoops and gym equipment
- Sound insulation and padding in the gym
- Teacher workstations in classrooms
- Cubbies and lockers
- Window shades
- Refrigerators, file cabinets, mats and rugs, bike racks and stroller/scooter storage
- A rooftop play structure, and so much more
There simply can’t be a great school without the fundamentals, the roots. If we work together to meet our year-end goal of $30,000, we can purchase these essential materials.
With an additional,
$10,000: We can add to our ‘makers room’, designed to give our kids the hands-on arts, crafts, carpentry, and building skills necessary to develop the innovators of tomorrow.
$20,000: We will buy the musical instruments, sheet music, stands, and equipment necessary for a fully functioning music program. Our students deserve the drums, guitars, violins, ukuleles, and tambourines to perform the music that makes our toes tap and their minds overflow with creativity!
$30,000: We will purchase all the Bunsen burners, graduated cylinders, safety goggles, and microscopes needed for a high-tech science lab. These materials make science come to life for our young learners. It’s STEM time, friends!
$40,000: Every school needs its backbone…a fully-stocked lending library. At this stretch goal level, we will get our students the books, computers, and literary tools necessary to become skilled readers, writers, and ‘outside-the-box’ thinkers.
$50,000: We all want active, healthy kids who have access to the play spaces necessary to help them develop into fun-loving and creative problem solvers. At this stretch goal level, we will build a rooftop playground and outdoor classroom. After all, city kids need to experience the great outdoors too!
These are essential materials and supplies needed to dress our new building, and in the end, go directly to supporting and engaging our wonderful kids in joyful learning.
