Why The Co-op School Fund Matters

The Co-op School Fund touches the life of every student, every day. Like most independent schools, tuition at The Co-op School keeps our doors open and runs our essential operations.

But brilliance requires more. It requires intention, innovative educators, and the vital resources provided by The Co-op School Fund. Therefore, we rely on generous philanthropic support from our community. Participation in The Co-op School Fund is a shared responsibility across the Co-op community. Each year we aim for 100% participation from our growing community.

The Power of Your Gift

Ways to Give

• Give online: Choose your level in the column to the right, add your information, and hit submit.
• Give a check: Mail to The Co-op School, 644 Gates Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11221. Please write “25 Years” in the memo line.
• Gifts of stock and securities: Giving publicly traded stock directly to The Co-op School lets you avoid capital gains tax, and you’ll receive a tax receipt for the fair market value at the time of your donation. Contact Juan Arguello to arrange it.
• Double your gift: Many employers match charitable donations dollar for dollar — some more. It takes about ten minutes and can turn your $2,500 into $5,000.

If your company has an online donation system administered through your Intranet or a matching gift portal, paperwork is automatically forwarded to The Co-op School when you enter your donation amount. If matching gifts are handled directly by your HR department, you will need to obtain a matching gift form and submit it with your Co-op donation. We will handle the rest of the submission request from our end.

Donor Advised Funds: The Co-op School accepts grants from Donor-Advised Funds (DAF), which are giving vehicles established at public charities (i.e., Fidelity Charitable Fund, Ayco Charitable Foundation)—donors make a contribution(s) to the fund, receive an immediate tax deduction and then recommend charitable grants over time from the invested money.

DAF grants can be scheduled in advance, as well as a bequest upon death. Please provide the following information to your fund administrator to arrange a grant to The Co-op School:

Gifts In-Kind: The Co-op School accepts in-kind gifts of personal property, services, or non-cash items, as long as the school has a related use for them. To discuss and/or arrange an in-kind gift contribution, contact alyssa@thecoopschool.org
