About
Campus and Location
In 2019, 16 years after being founded by a group of parents who saw the need for a high-quality and affordable preschool option in the Clinton Hill and Fort Greene neighborhoods, The Co-op School opened the doors at 644 Gates Avenue in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood – in a 3,500-square-foot building – housing our preschool, lower school, and middle school students under one roof.
Our Campus features:
- Double-height gym
- Two private and sunny outdoor spaces for recess and community events
- Light-filled classrooms
- A learning garden
- Dedicated creative making space
- Music Room with recording studio
- Science Lab for hands on exploration
Library
Nestled alongside our sunlit rooftop, our library space is a haven of knowledge and tranquility. Overflowing with books catering to all ages, including collections in Spanish, it invites exploration and discovery. With ample natural light streaming in, it provides the perfect ambiance for students of all ages – and families! – to immerse themselves in stories and knowledge, fostering a love for learning.
Outdoor Spaces
At our school, outdoor play and exploration are integral parts of our students’ daily routine. With two outdoor spaces to engage and play, our students have ample opportunities to bask in the fresh air. Whether it’s the second-floor playground or the rooftop, each space offers a safe and enjoyable environment for our students to socialize, exercise, and recharge during recess and outdoor activities.
Multipurpose Room
Our movement program takes place in the school gym, which contains a half-court and lots of mats, climbing apparatus, and other fitness equipment.
The space is also utilized for some of our school’s sings, events, and gatherings throughout the year.
