Summer Camp Mission

For more than 20 years, The Co-op School has pioneered an engaging community-and project-led approach to learning. Our approach to summer camp is no different. We believe appreciating our world starts with understanding how things work and how we can get involved. With this in mind, we guide campers through theme-based weeks focused on community action. From campfire stories to recycling art to music and movement, each day is a balance of fun activities, learning, wellness, and action-all adapted to summertime fun!

We Emphasize Community Action

We believe appreciating our world starts with understanding how things work and how we can get involved. With this in mind, we guide campers through theme-based weeks, offering a personalized experience. From campfire stories to recycling art to music and movement, each day is a balance of fun activities, learning, wellness, and action.

Daily Structure

Our camp is designed as a full experience.  For eight weeks, campers engage in thoughtful fun activities that build active citizens.  We’ve created an environment where bonds are formed and camper-led action is made. We start small and start within. Our camp is structured on the following themes:

Week 1: Summer Solstice – June 20-23
Celebrations and creations, such as sundials, sun s’mores, solar prints, sun catchers, and sun crowns, help us welcome summer’s arrival.

Week 2: Going Green – June 26-30
Gardening, studying a butterfly’s life cycle, collecting weather data, and composting teach us about earth stewardship.

Week 3: Farm & Food – July 5-7
Rooftop farms, CSAs, and food drives teach us about where food comes from.

Week 4: Trash & Treasure – July 10-14
Neighborhood clean-ups and recycling art projects show us how to be sustainable.

Week 5: Community Superheros – July 17-21
Visits to our local fire station and police precinct, along with special guests, teach us how we can make an impact and bring change.

Week 6: Water, Water Everywhere – July 24-28
A close look at clean water sources, our oceans, and a study of sea creatures show us the importance of taking care of our environment.

Week 7: Camp Kindness – July 31-August 4
Fun team-building games teach us to respect differences of opinion and nurture our ability to empathize with one another.

Week 8: Creative Action – August 7-11
Art-focused activities, such as mural painting, teach self-confidence and focus on historical and cultural references.
